AB 1 Moves Forward

Yesterday evening AB 1(Laird/Dymally) was passed by the Senate Health Committee on a party line vote of 7-3 with Senator Maldonado abstaining and now moves on to the Senate Appropriations Committee. SB 32 (Steinberg), the companion bill to AB 1, passed out of the Assembly Health Committee last week. If signed into law, the policies in these bills will finish the job of ensuring that all California children have access to affordable, comprehensive health insurance. For more information, please read our press release.

In addition, AB 8 (Nunez/Perata) was also passed by the Senate Health Committee on a vote of 7-3. AB 8, supported by 100% Campaign and PICO California, calls for a larger health reform plan that includes expanding health insurance to all California children.

Please stay tuned for continued updates on the Legislature's progress toward covering all of children.

Thank you for your continued support to ensure that all children have access to affordable, comprehensive health insurance.
