| How
Many Voters Will You Talk to In the Next Five Days?
The "Yes on Prop 86" campaign's Maria Robles, R.N., says, "It's not surprising the tobacco industry's $65 million campaign to deceive voters about Prop 86 would have an impact but we're now on the airwaves, when voters are paying attention, and we're confident that voters will ultimately see through the tobacco industry's lies and vote for reducing smoking and funding health programs." Our TV ads are on the air in every media market in the state--and former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop is featured in a new ad. The difference in this election will come down to our efforts to reach out to voters in these final days, to let them know that Prop 86 will stop teens from smoking, save lives, and ensure access to affordable health insurance for every child in California.Every single voter contact you make will push Prop 86 ahead. The next few days are critical. Here are ways YOU can make a difference:
Recall that in 1998, Proposition 10 won by just 65,000 votes. Health advocates have been in a tight race before and know how to defeat Big Tobacco in the home stretch. We have just a few days to reach every undecided voter and tell them the truth about Proposition 86. With your help, we can pass Prop 86, thereby preventing 700,000 kids from starting to smoke and ensuring all California children have access to affordable, comprehensive health insurance! |
The 100% Campaign,
a collaborative effort of Children Now, Children's Defense Fund and
The Children's Partnership, was created to ensure that all of California's
children obtain the health insurance they need to grow up strong
and healthy. The PICO California
Project is the united effort of 20 California congregation-community
organizations affiliated with the PICO National Network. Collectively,
we represent 350 congregations and 400,000 families statewide and
are actively organizing in over 70 cities in Northern and Southern
California. |
