Dear children's health supporters,
As you know, AB 772 and AB 1199 – which together make possible 100% health
coverage for all children in California – have passed out of the Legislature and
are now on the Governor’s desk. With his signature, children’s health insurance
legislation will become law this year!
The Governor has until October 9th to sign or veto the bills.
Your continued support has made all the difference for children’s health. We
thank you for bringing the California for Healthy Kids effort this far, but we
still need your help.

2. Children’s Health Press Conferences
Ever since the Legislature passed AB 772 and AB 1199, communities across the
state have joined together to urge Governor Schwarzenegger to sign AB 772 and AB
1199 to provide health insurance to all children in California..
Upcoming Event: LOS ANGELES!!

Place: New Horizons Child Care Facility (744 S. Glendale Avenue, Glendale)
This Thursday, the 100% Campaign, PICO affiliate LA Voice, and Assembly Majority
Leader Dario Frommer (D-Los Angeles) have invited Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez
and other key leaders of the Los Angeles community who are passionately pursuing
100% health coverage for children. In addition, a group of approximately 30
children will be signing a letter to Governor Schwarzenegger urging him to sign
AB 772 and AB1199.

Successful Past Press Events
San Francisco
On Thursday, Sep. 15 in San Francisco, Congregations Organizing for Renewal,
Oakland Community Organizations, San Francisco Organizing Project, Contra Costa
Interfaith Supporting Community Organization, and Peninsula Interfaith
coordinated a press conference in front of the Governor’s San Francisco office.
The author of AB 772, Assemblywoman Wilma Chan (D-Oakland), called on the
governor to sign the legislation, as did Assemblyman Mark Leno (D-San
Francisco). Other organizations participating included Children Now, Children’s
Defense Fund and The Children’s Partnership of the 100% Campaign, and the San
Francisco Health Plan. Two parents provided compelling testimony about the
impact that having a child without health insurance had on their families.

On Friday, Sep. 16 in Hayward, Congregations Organizing for Renewal sponsored a
press event at Tiburcio Vasquez Health. California State Assemblymembers Alberto
Torrico and Johan Klehs, and representatives from California State Senator Liz
Figueroa’s and Congressman Pete Stark’s offices joined together in support of AB
772 and AB 1199. Additional representatives from the Tiburcio Vasquez Health
Clinic, Alameda Alliance for Health, and the 100% Campaign also participated in
this event.
