Conference Committee Version of State Budget Would Push Nearly 300,000 Children Off of Health Coverage

The version of the 2008-09 state budget recently passed by the Legislature's Conference Committee would increase the number of uninsured children in California by over 35 percent, pushing the number of uninsured children to more than one million. This decision can now be overturned only by the Big 5 -- the Governor and the legislative leaders.
