Legislature’s Bipartisan Plan Will Protect Children’s Health
But Only if Governor Brown Signs Critical Proposal Into Law
SACRAMENTO - On behalf of the state’s leading children’s advocates, Deena Lahn, Policy Director of Children’s Defense Fund-California, released the following statement in response to the passage of bills (AB x1 21 and AB x1 30) which protect comprehensive health coverage for nearly 900,000 California children covered by Healthy Families by maintaining an assessment on Medi-Cal managed care plans:
“Overwhelming bipartisan support sends a strong message that lawmakers recognize how Healthy Families and Medi-Cal deliver real value for children, families, and the state. We commend the Legislature for passing this critical legislation to protect the health of hundreds of thousands of California children and the economic stability of their families.
Now Governor Brown must act swiftly to sign the bills and ensure that Healthy Families continues to deliver for California children and families in 2012.”
